ABOUT THE ARTIST
Michèle was born in Chibougameau, in northern Québec, and grew up in northern Ontario. She now lives in Saskatoon, with her two children of Denesuline heritage and holds deep ties to the community of Patuanak, where she was resident artist from 2015 to 2018. Michèle is a graduate of the Ontario College of Art & Design. She has since shown her work in solo exhibitions, notably Face à nous presented at the Mendel Art Gallery in Saskatoon, at the Mann Art Gallery in Prince Albert, SK, the Godfrey Dean Art Gallery in Yorkton, SK, and in a two person exhibition with Joe Fafard in L’art Fransaskois, at the Musée de la civilisation du Québec. In 2016, Mackasey was among 12 artists in the 34th International Symposium of Contemporary Art of Baie-Saint-Paul, Québec.
